    Jenmanship Basics: Lesson 2

    Jenmanship Basics: Lesson 2

Loved reading all your comments on my last post!!! I'm especially thrilled that so many of you are interested inlearning more about watercolor lettering! I'm excited to share what I have learned and look forward to seeing more watercolor lettering enthusiasts out there 🎨🌏😘🙌

So, I don't have a set list of videos (I actually rarely plan posts...it really is "insta" for me) and these videos will be no different. I plan on using your comments from the previous post as inspiration for my next topic. So today's #jenmanshipbasics is a f/u from yesterday. I could probably do 20 lessons on water, but for 60 seconds sake, I will spare you the nitty gritty.

@roni_leto said is best, Less is More. The right block has about 75% less water than the left block. The left block already has a pool of water which will get heavier once paint is added. This is not ideal (although there is a way to fix that which may be my next video 🤔) for blending. Take the two colors here, red and yellow should make 🍊, but all that water really muddies up the concentrations and you get a brownish mix.

On the other hand, when paint is added to the right block, you can see the paint traveling through the fibers of the paper. Let me stop here. Paint.traveling.through.the.fibers.of.the.paper. is the best thing in my watercolor world 🌏🎨❤️ If you see this, you are good! The red paint actually facilitates a path for the yellow and the two blend quite nicely. You cover the missing and uneven spots with a few (many) strokes of the brush and viola you have an even blend! Now it's your turn! Try this and let me know how it goes in the comments 👇👇😘

New series alert! I get many many questions on watercolor lettering that I decided to start a mini-series on a few tips, tricks and basic tools you need to get that watercolor to blend! 🎨🖌🙌🙌

This first video is on water. Before I describe what's going on here, I want to hear from you!! Which side do you think is better for blending and what is really going on here? Are the two blocks different or the same? Feel free to comment with any observations!! 👇👇
If you want to join in, use the hashtag #jenmanshipbasics and I would love to see your progress! 👌💪
